Job description

The Department of Control & Instrumentation Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) invites applications for faculty positions in all ranks. Our faculty members are engaged in world-class research and development activities through various Interdisciplinary Research Centers at the University. The key thrust areas include Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotics, Renewable Energy and Power Systems, Unmanned Systems (Ground, Air, and Underwater Vehicles), Process Automation and Control, Cyber-Physical Systems, and Smart Logistics. We aim to become one of the top departments in Control and Instrumentation Engineering in the Middle East and globally. To achieve this, we seek bright minds with extensive research experience and expertise in Control, Instrumentation, and Actuation Systems. The department offers a conducive environment for personal and professional growth.

The department is particularly interested in candidates with outstanding academic qualifications and/or industrial experience in areas such as advanced instrumentation and control electronics, novel sensor technologies, IoT and cyber-physical systems, dynamics and control of electromechanical systems, linear and rotary actuators (including pneumatic, hydraulic, and magnetic systems), and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence in control systems.

Candidates with an exceptional track record of scientific and technical accomplishments may be considered for the position of Distinguished Professor.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree from a top 200 QS-ranked university in the relevant field.

The successful candidates will be expected to:

  1. demonstrate teaching experience in instrumentation, actuation/MEMS devices, and control systems;
  2. contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programs and supervise students;
  3. demonstrate strong research potential through publications in reputed journals;
  4. conduct original research, lead research projects, and secure research grants, resulting in high-quality publications.
