Job description

Job Purpose

To support the Airport Senior Duty Manager in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the airport on a daily basis. This role involves monitoring and coordinating various aspects of airport operations, assisting in decision making during operational disruptions and ensuring the safety, security and service standards are consistently met, and to step in as needed in the absence of the Airport Senior Duty Manager.

Position Accountability Description

Operational Excellence:

  1. Assist the ASDM to ensure all aspects of Airport Operations, including airside, landside, terminal, maintenance are running efficiently and according to set procedures and policies.
  2. Assist the ASDM to ensure that all operational activities comply with regulatory requirements, safety protocols and security standards conducting regular checks to ensure full compliance.
  3. Oversee the efficient flow of passengers through the terminal, security checkpoints and boarding areas ensuring that service quality and customer satisfaction remain high.
  4. Monitor key operational performance indicators such as OTP, Passenger queuing times, baggage handling times, passenger flow through terminal, making adjustments where necessary.
  5. Prepare and present performance reports by collecting data, analyzing results, and highlighting key insights, supporting informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  6. Review operational data and performance metrics meticulously to identify areas for improvement and implement strategic initiatives to enhance the overall quality and efficiency of the Airport operations.
  7. Assist the ASDM in planning for peak periods, special events and unusual operational challenges by contributing insights and recommendations based on real time observations.
  8. During Emergency, actively support the Airport Senior Duty Manager by coordinating teams and resources, ensuring that critical tasks are executed swiftly according to ERP.
  9. While the ASDM is focused on managing the emergency response the Assistant Duty Manager should take full responsibility for overseeing and managing regular airport operations to ensure minimal disruption to ongoing services. Assist in the effective allocation of personal and resources to handle normal airport activities, while ensuring that emergency response teams have what they need to operate efficiently.
  10. Address and resolve operational issues by identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and monitoring outcomes, ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining service quality.
  11. Coordinate team activities by assigning tasks, setting priorities, and ensuring effective communication, facilitating collaboration and achieving departmental objectives.
  12. Implement and maintain operational procedures and policies to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Stakeholder Management:

  1. Liase with Airlines, Ground Handling Agents and authorities to ensure coordinated efforts during normal and peak periods, disruptions or special circumstances.
  2. Engage with key stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations, and incorporate their feedback into operational improvements.
  3. Maintain strong relationships with external vendors and contractors to ensure the quality and reliability of outsourced services.

Team Leadership and Development:

  1. Provide training and development opportunities for team members by identifying learning needs, organizing workshops, and offering mentorship, enhancing skills and promoting career growth.
  2. Support and motivate the team consistently, addressing any operational challenges proactively and fostering a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and high performance.
  3. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to support their professional growth.

Financial Management:

  1. Assist the ASDM to manage the budget for operations, and ensuring efficient use of resources.

Risk and Compliance Management:

  1. Implement and oversee safety protocols to ensure the well-being of passengers and staff, and to minimize operational risks.
  2. Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  1. Identify opportunities for technological advancements and innovations to improve shuttle service operations.
  2. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing processes and implementing best practices.

Education

Bachelor’s degree: Aviation Management, Airport Operations, Business Administration or a related field

Experience

Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in airport operations or a related field.
