Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Archeologist to join our team. We are looking for an experienced professional who can provide technical direction and expertise in archaeology and heritage management on large buildings and infrastructure projects. Responsible for ensuring compliance with heritage conservation requirements, archaeological best practices, and regulatory standards throughout all project phases. Reviews project documents for accuracy, supervises field investigations, and conducts in-field reviews to ensure adherence to approved heritage management plans. Willingness to travel and/or relocate to field sites is expected.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Define the scope, methodology, and execution plan for archaeological works, including surveys, excavations, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Direct and supervise field investigations, excavations, and assessments to identify, evaluate, and document archaeological resources.
  • Review and approve archaeological work products, ensuring compliance with cultural heritage legislation, codes, and project requirements.
  • Coordinate archaeological and heritage inputs with design, construction, environmental, and project management teams.
  • Advise project management on heritage constraints, risks, mitigation strategies, and prepare impact assessment reports.
  • Prepare and submit archaeological documentation, permits, and regulatory clearances in a timely manner.
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and technical proficiency of assigned personnel to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical training, mentoring, and guidance to junior archaeologists and field staff.
  • Stay updated on advancements in archaeological methods, recording techniques, and heritage conservation practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of professional experience in archaeology, with significant experience on infrastructure and buildings projects.
  • Strong proficiency in archaeological survey, excavation, documentation, and heritage management practices.
  • Knowledge of local and international heritage regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and technical report-writing skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in high-profile infrastructure environments.
Desired Skills
  • Master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related specialization.
  • Professional membership/registration with a recognized archaeological or heritage body.
  • Proficiency in GIS, CAD, and other digital tools for recording and managing archaeological data.
  • Experience managing large archaeological teams on complex infrastructure or urban development projects.
  • Familiarity with international best practices and standards in cultural heritage conservation.
