Job description

Job Summary: This product-focused position performs established technical tasks at the sub-system and/or component level for current and future products within a given business unit or corporate area. It involves work across many stages of the product life cycle. Due to the product-centered nature of this role, it often serves as a key point of coordination and decision-making among product line engineers, customer teams, systems engineers, purchasing, suppliers, and manufacturing.

Main Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in Application Engineering / Service Engineering roles
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with commissioning Cummins or equivalent HMLD and HHP engines for various markets such as Automotive, Industrial, and Marine is preferred
  • Proficiency with Cummins diagnostic tools like INSITE and CALTERM is preferred
  • Completion of at least the Cummins AE Basics training is advantageous
  • Experience with Marine, Oil & Gas, Automotive, or Industrial applications of Diesel and Gas engines

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Gather input from stakeholders including technical managers, project leaders, and suppliers to inform quality product decisions.
  2. Utilize academic knowledge and experience to make decisions that advance projects while maintaining quality standards.
  3. Apply and enhance processes such as Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, and FIRG, utilizing tools like 7-step problem solving and design review checklists.
  4. Lead smaller projects or own complex components or systems, with full accountability.
  5. Execute established work processes independently while developing technical knowledge.
  6. Improve work processes and systems within the discipline and coordinate work among technicians and junior engineers.
  7. Provide technical guidance and develop proficiency in key competency areas.
  8. Operate as a recognized specialist within the team.
