Job Summary: This product-focused position performs established technical tasks at the sub-system and/or component level for current and future products within a given business unit or corporate area. It involves work across many stages of the product life cycle. Due to the product-centered nature of this role, it often serves as a key point of coordination and decision-making among product line engineers, customer teams, systems engineers, purchasing, suppliers, and manufacturing.
Main Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in Application Engineering / Service Engineering roles
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience with commissioning Cummins or equivalent HMLD and HHP engines for various markets such as Automotive, Industrial, and Marine is preferred
- Proficiency with Cummins diagnostic tools like INSITE and CALTERM is preferred
- Completion of at least the Cummins AE Basics training is advantageous
- Experience with Marine, Oil & Gas, Automotive, or Industrial applications of Diesel and Gas engines
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather input from stakeholders including technical managers, project leaders, and suppliers to inform quality product decisions.
- Utilize academic knowledge and experience to make decisions that advance projects while maintaining quality standards.
- Apply and enhance processes such as Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, and FIRG, utilizing tools like 7-step problem solving and design review checklists.
- Lead smaller projects or own complex components or systems, with full accountability.
- Execute established work processes independently while developing technical knowledge.
- Improve work processes and systems within the discipline and coordinate work among technicians and junior engineers.
- Provide technical guidance and develop proficiency in key competency areas.
- Operate as a recognized specialist within the team.
