Job description

Job Summary: The Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all accounts payable transactions for the school. This role involves reviewing and verifying invoices, ensuring compliance with internal controls and budgetary guidelines, and maintaining accurate financial records. The position requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Invoice Processing: Review, verify, and process invoices for accuracy and proper documentation in line with financial policies.
  • Data Entry: Accurately input invoices into the accounting system and match them with purchase orders or contracts.
  • Payment Management: Ensure timely processing of payments, monitor due dates, and avoid late fees.
  • Reconciliation: Resolve discrepancies, reconcile transactions, and maintain positive vendor relationships.
  • Reporting & Closing: Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals and accounts payable reports.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain organized records and ensure compliance with policies and regulatory standards.
  • Team Support: Assist with audits, other accounting functions, and additional duties as required.
