Analyst, Oil Testing
Job Purpose
Conduct testing of electrical insulating oil from electrical equipment in accordance with relevant standards and codes, including ASTM, IEC, and IEEE. Perform testing of lubricant oil, hydraulic oil, EHC fluid and fuel oil as per ASTM, IP and UOP Methods. Additionally, ensuring adherence to Laboratory quality control in line with ISO/IEC-17025:2017 standards.
Key Duties & Responsibility
- Receives different oil and fuel oil samples as per the scheduled calendar from O&M, including Electrical Insulating oil, lubricant oil, EHC, fuel oil samples, etc., and performs necessary tests prescribed for each oil/equipment in reference to standards and codes.
- Records test results into the “Test readings chart” and enter data online for internal customer action.
- Maintains records and trends for electrical equipment oil tests and expedites regularly to serve TSD electrical engineers and internal customers.
- Responds to emergency calls for analysis requests and performs tests required until the emergency is cleared by internal customer.
- Prepare and standardize chemical reagents, standards and solutions as and when required.
- Maintains laboratory instruments, glassware, testing tools, etc. clean and the working area neat during testing and before day end.
- Uses and wears suitable PPE specified for lab testing or conducted task, either inside the lab or outside at the site.
- Validates and verifies laboratory test methods under supervision when necessary.
- Performs intermediate checks on equipment, glassware, balances, burettes, and other laboratory tools in accordance with the approved plan.
- Performs quality control (QC) sample testing in accordance with laboratory QC procedures.
- Adheres to the requirements of the ISO/IEC-17025 standard.
- Committed to Laboratory Quality, Impartiality and confidentiality policies.
- Complies with MARAFIQ LPD and SALEM safety procedures and guidelines.
- Obtain Authorized permit receiver card to comply with PTWC procedure.
- Complies with Marafiq Cyber security requirements.
Position Requirements
Minimum Education Requirements
- Diploma in a Chemistry Discipline.
Minimum Experience Requirements
- 3-5 years’ analytical laboratory experience in heavy industrial or utilities plant.
- 1 - 2 years’ utilities laboratory experience accredited to ISO/IEC-17025:2017 standard.
Professional Certification(s)
- Understanding the requirement of ISO/IEC-17025.
