Qualifications

Nestlé Waters KSA – Almanhal Water Factory (Position based in Almanhal Water Factory - Dammam Industrial Area)

Position Summary

Ammonia plant operator is responsible for the safe , efficient and continuous operation of ammonia-based refrigeration systems using for industrial cooling purposed , this role involves monitoring , troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing ammonia chillers , compressors , pumps valves and associated system to insure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards .

Key responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor ammonia chiller systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform daily inspections and rounds to check system pressures, temperatures, fluid levels, and operating conditions.
  • Record operational data and log system performance in plant records and software.
  • Maintain and adjust control systems to ensure optimal and safe refrigeration performance.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and minor repairs on chillers, motors, valves, and piping systems.
  • Detect leaks and ensure all safety measures are followed in handling ammonia
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Respond to alarms and troubleshoot malfunctions in the refrigeration system.
  • Work with the maintenance team on shutdowns, overhauls, and major repairs.
  • Participate in emergency response procedures in case of ammonia leaks or system failure.
  • Assist in training junior staff or plant personnel on ammonia system operations.

Key Experiences:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Technical certification or training in HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical systems preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-5 years of experience operating and maintaining ammonia refrigeration systems in an industrial or food processing environment.
  • Certifications:
  • RETA (Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association) certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Ammonia Safety Training certification (e.g., PSM/RMP awareness) is a strong plus.
