Your Job

Guardian Industries is looking for a Float SME to join the AMEIA Float OpEx/Opex team.

This role serves as a catalyst and enabler to introduce and implement the best knowledge at the sites. To achieve reliable, predictive, and safe operations throughout the region, it requires excellent collaboration skills and the deliberate application of best practices to enhance functional effectiveness.

This is a regional role supporting AMEIA plants (Asia, Middle East, Africa, and India). The candidate should preferably be based at one of these plants.

You will work with a team of 3–4 members supporting float operations mainly in the AMEIA region.

Willing and able to travel internationally 30% - 40% of the time.

What You Will Do

A Float SME (Subject Matter Expert) for Tin bath, Lehr & Cutting in the glass manufacturing industry is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and optimization of these processes in a float glass production line. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Process Optimization & Control: Monitoring and optimizing tin bath, lehr, and cutting operations to maintain glass quality and efficiency; controlling temperature, atmosphere, and tin bath chemistry; ensuring proper operation of heating, cooling, and protective gas systems.
  • Quality Assurance & Defect Prevention: Identifying and troubleshooting defects; collaborating with quality control teams; implementing process improvements.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Reliability: Overseeing maintenance of tin bath components; ensuring integrity of bath linings; coordinating maintenance activities.
  • Safety & Environmental Compliance: Enforcing safety protocols; ensuring compliance with environmental regulations; conducting risk assessments.
  • Training & Technical Support: Training operators; providing troubleshooting guidance; documenting SOPs.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Working with upstream and downstream teams; implementing lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies; participating in R&D projects.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Background in Materials, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials/Ceramic Science with experience in float glass or similar industry.
  • Knowledge of float glass process and experience with full-scale manufacturing.
  • Understanding of flat glass forming, annealing, and cutting processes.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Project management experience, especially with multi-functional projects.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification or experience.
