Job description

Alarm Room Operator - Fire and Rescue - Arabic Speaker SERCO Limited

Man the alarm control room in the fire station on a shift basis and dispatch fire vehicles/equipment as required to cope with all reported emergencies/alarms.

Continuously monitor the incoming signals and information concerning fire, emergency, and tests that originate from the fire alarm panels and duty phone.

Under the guidance of senior staff, periodically exercise the alarm system manually to ensure emergency communications are reliable.

Check the performance of the public-address system in the station and the operation of the electrically operated doors.

Periodically check the operational status of the radio network for communication with security department personnel and the fire mobile radio network between the fire stations and the fire vehicles, using fire simulated exercises.

Maintain a log of all fire/emergency messages, including test exercises.

Report to supervisors the existence of any weakness in the total alarm/communication system and make recommendations for improvements.

Perform other duties as assigned by your duty line manager.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum 18 years old.

Graduated from high school.

Medically and physically fit.

No essential experience level required; however, would prefer at least 3 years experience in a similar role.

Qualified in NFPA 1061 - Telecommunications level I and II (or willingness to obtain).

Qualified in NFPA 1072 - Hazardous Materials Awareness (or willingness to obtain).

Must have good bilingual communication skills (Reading, writing, and speaking in English and Arabic).
