Qualifications

  • Must have three years of experience painting aircraft.

Job Summary

The primary purpose of this position is paint removal, painting, and finishing duties on aircraft and aerospace vehicles. The organizational goals or objectives of this position are to paint and finish aircraft.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assessment of corrosion and selection of treatment corrects corrosion problems within established timeframes and minimizes future repair work for the same or related problem area. Promptly documents corroded or repaired areas on the structure historical log.
  • Selects proper equipment and materials to restore damaged metal surfaces to bring area back to original depth and color with minimum rework required.
  • Follows established shop procedures in assisting with the evaluation of surface conditions and restoring damaged surfaces. Mixes, thins, blends, matches, tints and tones coating materials.
  • Complies with safety rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work area. Maintains awareness of shop safety procedures and identifies any observed unsafe practices and/or procedures.
  • Wears and maintains required personal safety equipment. Promptly reports accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor.
  • Maintains and controls tools and painting equipment such as sprayers, striping machines, scrapers, etc. Maintains the painting equipment being used to ensure its proper operation and readiness for future use.
  • Promptly reports missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor. Inventories and inspects tools on a regular basis and replaces worn or broken tools. Ensures the tool control log is properly signed off.
  • Cleans work area and equipment as necessary and at the end of the shift, assuring all flammable materials are properly stored. Materials are put away in a timely manner when returned to the shop.
  • Checks to see if emergency response information is posted and equipment/supplies are immediately available. Controls Over Work.
  • Has responsibility for determining methods, techniques, materials, and devices best suited to obtain smooth-textured and decorative surfaces, insuring that surface coating meet level and thickness requires and that colors, tints and tones matched
  • Performs all other duties assigned by the Corrosion Control Supervisor.
Job Requirements

Qualifications / Licenses:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of formal technical training.
Work Experience
  • Required five (5) years’ experience as Paint Technician.
  • Required three (3) years’ experience painting aircraft.
