Overview

We are seeking an Advanced Materials R&D Specialist - Carbon Based to join our Research & Analytical Services Department (RA&SD).

RA&SD is Aramco's laboratory service provider, and aspires to be the service of choice. Our Materials & Corrosion Services Division is a well-established team with international recognition, providing services in materials, corrosion, scaling, and microbial management to maintain Aramco's reliability.

Your primary role is to play a key part in maintaining Aramco as a reliable global energy supplier. You will build capabilities in laboratory qualification of advanced materials, including carbon-based and nanocomposite materials, and collaborate with external stakeholders to identify new applications in corrosion control and mitigation in the oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Aramco's capability to qualify and test advanced carbon-based, nanotechnology, and other emerging sustainable materials related to corrosion control and mitigation.
  • Lead and deploy new technologies related to new materials to enhance Aramco's field operations.
  • Identify new laboratory requirements and detailed specifications for equipment, tools, and materials needed to expand capabilities.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team, providing advice on experimental techniques, materials selection, and damage mechanisms.
  • Establish and manage collaborations with internal and external stakeholders to achieve research goals and maximize impact.
  • Contribute to RA&SD's intellectual capital through publications, patents, and technical reports.
Minimum Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in oil and gas related to advanced materials.
  • Proven experience in research or industrial environments with original studies and deployment of new techniques and technologies.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in materials science, especially emerging and sustainable materials, carbon-based materials, nanotechnology, and corrosion mitigation in oil and gas.
  • Knowledge of synthesis, properties, and applications of advanced materials in corrosion control.
  • Contributions to the scientific domain via publications, patents, or professional memberships are preferred.
