Job description

Job Title: Accountant

Role Purpose: The accountant is responsible for maintaining up-to-date accounts for cash and cash equivalents, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, prepayment, accruals, related parties, and CT accounts according to the applicable SOPs. The role involves establishing a robust internal control process, conducting monthly balance reconciliations/confirmations, and participating in monthly and yearly closing and reporting.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Financial operations
  2. Apply company policies pertaining to accounting systems.
  3. Review, validate, and book customer/vendor invoices.
  4. Handle all payments through SAP.
  5. Provide daily follow-up on cash sales accounts (cash clearing account).
  6. Track collections made by the sales team in branches; visit customers (private and government) weekly if required to follow up on overdue payments.
  7. Confirm vendor/customer balances and coordinate with the sales team for account reconciliation.
  8. Follow up on all matters related to LCs and LGs with vendors/customers and CT.
  9. Monitor daily collections and bookings.
  10. Handle petty cash and control expenses to ensure compliance with policies and adherence to the approved budget.
  11. Ensure timely review, validation, and payment to vendors, including suppliers, landlords, utilities, and government fees.
  12. Manage inventory costing.
  13. Manage the fixed assets module (additions, disposals), perform monthly depreciation runs, and ensure reconciliation of the fixed assets register.
  14. Ensure that any movement of materials is supported by necessary documentation in accordance with Materials Planning procedures.
  15. Maintain an up-to-date list of prepayments, accruals, and leases.
  16. Prepare reports and analyses for the associated GLs.
  17. Ensure compliance with IFRS and AHC accounting guidelines.

Job Specifications:

  1. A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  2. Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  3. SOCPA membership is mandatory.
