We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Private Accountant to join our family office team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial management, preferably in a private family office environment. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, discretion, and a proactive approach to managing complex financial matters.
Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Management & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the family and affiliated entities, including trusts, partnerships, and investments.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and tax laws.
• Tax Planning & Compliance:
- Collaborate with external tax advisors to prepare and file individual, corporate, trust, and estate tax returns.
- Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to optimize financial outcomes.
• Investment Oversight:
- Support the tracking and reporting of investments, including performance analysis and cash flow projections.
- Liaise with investment managers and advisors to ensure accurate accounting of holdings.
• Budgeting & Cash Flow Management:
- Develop and monitor budgets for personal and business expenses.
- Manage cash flow requirements and coordinate funding for expenses and investments.
• Audit & Risk Management:
- Coordinate with external auditors for periodic reviews of accounts.
- Monitor and mitigate financial risks by maintaining strong internal controls.
• Philanthropy & Trust Management:
- Oversee financial aspects of charitable donations and foundations, ensuring compliance with governance and reporting requirements.
- Manage trust accounting, distributions, and beneficiary communications.
• Administrative Support:
- Handle vendor payments, payroll for household staff, and other personal financial matters.
- Assist with property management accounting and financial tracking for real estate assets.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as an accountant, with at least 2 years in a family office or high-net-worth individual setting
- Strong knowledge of tax planning, investment accounting, and trust structures
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel)
- Strong ethical standards, discretion, and confidentiality
