Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with students individually or in small groups to support academic achievement.

  • Implement behavior support plans (BSPs) and reinforce positive behavioral interventions.

  • Assist in the collection of data on student academic progress and behavior.

  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to adapt lessons and strategies for individual needs.

  • Support classroom instruction by reinforcing learning activities under teacher supervision.

  • Assist in de-escalating student behaviors and employing crisis intervention strategies when necessary.

  • Promote a positive and inclusive school climate by modeling respectful behavior.

  • Participate in IEP/504 or behavior team meetings when requested.

  • Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, or other non-instructional times as needed.

  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with school policies and legal requirements.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (associates or bachelors degree preferred).

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or behavioral setting.

  • Knowledge of behavior management strategies, including PBIS or CPI (training provided, if necessary).

  • Ability to build rapport with students and maintain professional boundaries.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Working Conditions:
  • May involve exposure to challenging behaviors.

  • Requires physical stamina, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting.

  • School-based setting, following academic calendar.
