We are seeking a Head of R&D responsible for the Market Unit Air Traffic Management (ATM) Voice Solutions. Key responsibilities include leading the development team, overseeing product lifecycle, aligning project implementation with business goals, fostering software and engineering excellence, and managing stakeholders.
Key Tasks
- Leadership and Team Management: Lead a multidisciplinary, geographically diverse team of about 130 members. Set goals, evaluate performance, and promote high-performance culture.
- Product Development: Manage product lifecycle from concept to deployment, ensuring design meets user needs and performance standards.
- Innovation: Keep abreast of industry trends, explore new technologies, and maintain competitive advantage.
- Financial Planning: Secure funding, draft budgets, and oversee R&D investments aligned with business objectives.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure adherence to standards, implement quality processes, and manage technology risks.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields; Master’s or certifications are a plus.
- 10-15 years in R&D, with at least 5 years in leadership, preferably in the relevant domain.
- Strong leadership and motivation skills.
- Technical expertise in scalable, secure software architectures, real-time systems, communication protocols, and cloud tech.
- Experience with agile methodologies.
- Financial management understanding.
- Effective communication skills in English; German or other languages are a plus.
- Intercultural mindset and willingness to travel (~20%).
