The successful candidate conducts research at the intersection of AI-based information retrieval and the digital humanities. The focus lies on the development and evaluation of trustworthy systems for information access, search and recommendation. A doctorate and a habilitation (or equivalent) in (applied) computer science, as well as application-oriented research and teaching and collaborations with industry-related partners, are explicitly preferred. We also expect gender mainstreaming and diversity management skills.

Employment requirements:
• Austrian or equivalent foreign higher education degree corresponding with the position (doctorate/PhD)
• Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching in the relevant discipline as well as several years of subject-relevant non-university practical experience (commensurate with stage of academic career and interruptions in employment due to caring responsibilities)
• Gender mainstreaming and diversity management skills
• Habilitation or equivalent qualification in (applied) computer science
• Skills in higher education didactics
• Skills in attracting subject-specific project grants
• Management and leadership experience
• Good knowledge of German and English
• Practical knowledge of applying information retrieval technologies (especially search and recommender systems) in information systems and digital humanities
• Expertise with aspects of trustworthy AI including fairness, transparency, privacy and the consideration of multi-stakeholder aspects
Specific Requirements
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, aiming for academic excellence and integrity in research and teaching. He/she will have demonstrated ability to collaborate constructively in a responsible manner and inspire colleagues and students in an interdisciplinary, internationally oriented context.
The minimum remuneration as stated in the Collective University Agreement is EUR 23.115,05 gross per year. Salary subject to negotiation.
