Manager Business Development Retail & Commerce and Acceptance Development Austria
Overview
This role focuses on executing Mastercard’s acceptance and merchant strategy in Austria, aiming to increase revenues and brand preference by strengthening relationships with key Acquirers, Merchants, and non-traditional customers in acceptance space. It includes business development responsibilities for the Retail & Commerce segment, with an emphasis on driving Services sales.
You will help clients grow their business by identifying and executing joint opportunities, delivering first-class solutions and services with colleagues and client teams.
Role
In this client-facing position, you will:
- Partner with acquiring banks, merchants, payment service providers, and facilitators to identify new growth opportunities, solve problems, and deliver solutions.
- Develop card acceptance in Austria, focusing on:
- Increasing acceptance at physical points of sale and e-commerce for merchants in Austria
- Developing merchant partnerships to stimulate card usage and Mastercard brand preference
- Driving adoption of Mastercard products like Purchase with Cash Back, Money Send, or Click to Pay
Lead all business development activities in the Retail & Commerce segment, covering all merchant types in Austria.Manage relationships with prioritized Retail & Commerce clients and acquiring banks, defining sales strategies to drive user-paid sales.Expand Mastercard’s client network beyond traditional cards, building new relationships.Act as a project manager and resource lead on small to mid-sized projects.Hold budget accountability for sales targets, managing revenue achievement in coordination with Mastercard teams.Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including merchants, service providers, and cross-functional teams.Coordinate efforts across Mastercard to create value through new acceptance points, quality, projects, and marketing programs.Use data and analytical problem solving to influence customer strategies and provide market insights.Participate in business discussions with key decision makers to promote Mastercard’s services and solutions.Experiences
The ideal candidate should:
- Have previous sales or relationship management experience.
- Experience in fast-paced, technology-centric environments like payments, e-commerce, retail, financial services, or consulting.
- Understanding of the banking and payment industry.
- Excellent communication skills with client representatives across business areas.
