  • Waikato Hospital, Critical Care - Hamilton, New Zealand
  • Salary: ASMS Contract base salary plus:
  • Average call duties and availability allowance approx. 45 - 55% of base salary
  • Continuing medical education allowance of NZ$16,000 and 10 days leave/year
  • Eligible for superannuation matching of 6% of total remuneration
  • A recruitment allowance is currently being offered

Standard salary package ranges from NZ$260,000-$380,000 based on years of experience. For an indication of your individual remuneration package, please do not hesitate to contact us.

About the role

The Critical Care unit at Waikato Hospital is on a considerable growth path to reform the services and expand the number of ICU level beds. We are looking for multiple Senior Medical Officers and Fellows to join this exciting opportunity to be a part of a team working to revitalise the Waikato Critical Care unit.

About the Team/Service

The Critical Care Department at Waikato Hospital is the tertiary provider for Intensive Care to the Midland region of New Zealand. The Waikato ICU is a 16-bed facility opened in 2013, providing all major tertiary services including a major trauma centre and the second largest cardiac surgical centre in New Zealand. We provide neurosurgical and regional burns care, as well as busy general and paediatric intensive care, catering to the needs of 1500 ICU patients and almost 3000 HDU level patients each year. We operate a retrieval service by both air and road for critical care and cardiac patients.

About Hamilton

Waikato Hospital is a major regional hospital in Hamilton and is a leading tertiary teaching hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand. It serves as the regional hub for the Midland area, including Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts. About you

Required skills and experience:

  • Hold or be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in the scope of practice of Intensive Care Medicine and must be of good standing
  • Hold FCICM, or UK FICM with CCT or equivalent qualifications
