The Impact You’ll Make

As a Software Engineer at Lam, you will be at the forefront of innovation by designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs. Your role is pivotal in developing software tools that support design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. Your expertise will determine hardware compatibility and influence design, ensuring seamless integration between software and hardware.

You’ll make an impact across Lam’s entire product portfolio of equipment by working within our centralized software engineering team, collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the industry.

What You’ll Do

  • Create and adapt control programs
  • Provide technical clarification within the project team and, if necessary, obtain offers
  • Implement new customer requirements and features in existing applications
  • Maintain existing code base and investigate problem areas
  • Demonstrate solutions through documentation, flowcharts, and clear code
  • Collaborate in cross-functional teams across the organization
  • Support component selection
  • Commission new systems (Motion, Safety, Mapping)
  • Perform IO-Check and FT Support
  • Support service and customers in the field
  • Resolve electrical and network technology problems, including decentralized peripherals

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Vocational training, HTL or university degree in software engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, automation engineering, or similar
  • Proficiency in two programming languages (e.g., C, C#, C++, Java, Small Talk, Python, or others)
  • Knowledge of Network, Serial Device Control, and IO Control Systems
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented Software design, including Design Patterns and Finite State Machines (favorable)
  • Experience with industrial automation software (a plus)
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Independent, analytical, and self-reliant working style
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, flexible, team-oriented
  • Reliable and solution-focused

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Machinery Directive, ISO 13849, EN IEC 81346, EN 60204
  • Familiarity with SEMI or UL standards (an advantage)
  • Willingness to travel within the USA, Europe, and Asia (less than 10%)
