Organizational Setting

The Division of Information Technology supports the IAEA in ICT, including information systems for technical programmes and management. It plans, develops, and implements ICT strategies, enforces ICT standards, and manages central ICT services. The ICT infrastructure includes hardware, software, cloud, and external services. It follows ITIL and Prince2 best practices.

Main Purpose

Implement the Data Strategy by creating a data catalogue, analyzing data use cases, and strengthening data governance. Conduct assessments of Data Integration Architecture and Governance to enhance insights.

Functions / Key Results Expected

  1. Data Strategy Alignment: Under supervision of the Chief Data Officer, align data strategies with organizational goals. Use statistical and computational techniques to extract insights from large datasets. Develop and deploy AI solutions considering scalability, reliability, and security.
  2. Data Collaboration and Analysis: Work with data engineers/architects to define data requirements. Apply advanced analytical methods, machine learning, and deep learning to discover patterns. Perform data cleaning, statistical analysis, and create visualizations for stakeholders.
  3. Decision Support: Provide data-driven recommendations for decision-making. Conduct exploratory data analysis and develop predictive models using techniques like regression, neural networks, and decision trees.
  4. Big Data Applications: Design and develop applications for predictive analytics and machine learning. Use programming languages like R or Python and database querying languages proficiently.
  5. Insights and Communication: Interpret large data sets into actionable insights. Assist CDO in communicating results and establishing data governance for analysis and automated decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced University Degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Data Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, or related fields. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s Degree with two additional years of experience.
  • Minimum five years of experience in AI data science, ML engineering, or data analytics.
  • At least two years designing and implementing AI solutions focusing on machine learning, recommendation systems, NLP, or data mining.
  • Experience with programming languages such as SQL, Python, R.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, Excel.
  • Expertise in statistical analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of data modeling and warehousing.
  • Proficiency in handling large datasets, data cleaning, and transformation.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of other IAEA languages is a plus.

Remuneration

The daily fee is up to €340, based on qualifications and experience. Travel, DSA, health coverage, and pension are provided as applicable.
