Job Description

As Director of Sales & Marketing, your key responsibilities are to architect and steer hotel sales and marketing strategies into a new era of growth and innovation. This senior role demands a blend of visionary leadership, strategic marketing genius, and sales expertise, poised to elevate our brand and drive revenue. The ideal candidate will possess a track record of crafting winning strategies, inspiring teams, and forging solid relationships with customers and partners alike.

What you will be doing:

  • Oversee commercial strategies for the hotel, managing the asset by connecting strategy and business processes across all revenue streams, including Rooms, Catering, Food & Beverage, and Marketing.
  • Lead the development and implementation of both short-term and long-term strategies in sales, events, and marketing channels to achieve revenue goals and increase market share.
  • Collaborate with on-site leaders and regional support to produce the hotel's Annual Multi-Year Commercial Strategy Plan.
  • Align hotel performance needs with solutions designed by the Fairmont brand enterprise for each key segment.
  • Coordinate with Brand e-Commerce teams to establish and optimize hotel B2B marketing, digital marketing, social media, PR, and communications channels, ensuring content accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Work with Commercial Leaders to establish optimal business mix, review revenue forecasts, develop strategies for demand fluctuations, and approve retail and group pricing strategies.
  • Develop and manage departmental expense budgets and forecasts.
  • Train and monitor sales and events teams on contractual, legal, and risk practices, booking guidelines, and pricing expectations, utilizing sales platforms and adhering to company policies.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of competitor and market activity.
  • Execute the Fairmont Sales Incentive Program.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain sales and marketing staff, including performance and career development planning.
  • Coordinate with Global Sales, regional support, and brand teams.
  • Build relationships with CVBs, community groups, influencers, and third-party travel partners.
  • Engage actively with customers across all sales segments.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Minimum of five (5) years in hotel sales, catering, or marketing.
  • Management experience as a Director or similar role.
  • Four-year college degree preferred.
  • At least four years of leadership experience in a full-service, 4-star-plus hotel.
  • Ability to travel on short notice and adapt to schedule changes.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong critical analysis skills.

Additional preferred capabilities include:

  • Advanced coursework in business administration, marketing, or communications.
  • Experience with business strategy, planning, and development.
  • Experience working in large matrix organizations.
  • Knowledge of Opera Sales & Catering Software or similar.
