About the role

At V/Line, we are taking a proactive approach in our commitment to child safety through the creation of a comprehensive and robust framework. As the Child Safety Standards Manager, you will lead the design and implementation of policies, procedures, and cultural initiatives to ensure compliance with the Victorian Child Safe Standards. This is an amazing opportunity to shape and establish a new organisational approach to child safety that will set the foundation for V/Line's future.

Key Accountabilities
  • Framework Development: Develop a child safety policy and governance framework, ensuring alignment with the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
  • Implementation & Compliance: Lead the creation and execution of a detailed implementation plan to meet all legislative requirements.
  • Risk Management: Identify and address child safety risks, integrating protocols into broader risk management frameworks.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary contact for child safety inquiries while fostering partnerships with government bodies, community groups, and industry stakeholders.
  • Monitoring & Continuous Improvement: Establish mechanisms to monitor compliance, track progress, and drive ongoing enhancements.
  • Training & Culture Building: Create programs to build awareness, capability, and a culture of child safety throughout the organisation.
About you

We're seeking a dedicated professional to drive meaningful change within the organisation. You come with strong expertise in child safety standards and the ability to lead impactful initiatives that ensure compliance.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and related legislation. (Mandatory)
  • Experience in policy development, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, regulatory bodies and executive leaders.
  • Strong training and capability-building skills to foster awareness and a child-safe culture.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to influence and implement change effectively.
  • Previous exposure to government, operational or industrial environments (desirable)
  • Demonstrated alignment with V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
