Job Summary: Seeking an AutoCAD Designer with experience in designing fire suppression systems and preparing detailed shop drawings. Preference for experience with AutoSPRINK, HydroCAD, or SprinkCAD. Must have strong organizational skills, self-discipline, and a passion for safety. Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment is essential.
Job Description:
- Design fire suppression systems including wet, dry, pre-action, and foam fire sprinkler systems.
- Perform detailed shop drawings, field engineering functions, and operation planning.
- Compile and prepare plan submittals and material submittals for review by architects, engineers, clients, and authorities.
- Coordinate fire sprinkler design with building structure and other MEP subcontractors.
- Prepare project material stock lists for procurement.
- Assist with field engineering troubleshooting and support during installation.
- Prepare "as-built" drawings for archive and client files.
- Understand project costs related to engineering, materials, fabrication, and labor.
- Work productively and meet deadlines.
- Communicate professionally with team members and stakeholders.
- Follow safety protocols and work policies.
- Work during normal hours and be willing to teach others.
Skills Required:
- Experience with AutoSPRINK, HydroCAD, or SprinkCAD preferred; NICET certification strongly preferred.
- Experience with MS Excel, Word, and AutoCAD preferred.
- Self-disciplined, motivated, and team-oriented with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Passion for safety and ensuring a safe work environment.
- Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills.
- Reliable attendance.
- Design/CAD experience is essential; sprinkler design training will be provided.
Education/Training/Certifications:
- Associates degree in Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Alternatively, 6+ years of experience in design and construction will be considered.
- At least 2 years of fire sprinkler design experience required.
Additional Requirements:
- Work overtime and weekends as needed.
Pay Rate/Salary:
- Base Compensation: $22/hour - $30/hour (varies based on experience, education, and location).
