We are currently looking for someone, who will join a distributed team of experts in Asset Technology – the power house of applied Technology.


Your tasks and responsibilities in this role:

  • Lead and execute Industrial Digitalisation projects for existing and new plants, linked to digital twin initiatives such as offline, online, operator training simulators, machine learning and data analytics.
  • Promote Industrial Digitalisation initiatives, securing business value in a cross functional environment.
  • Support change in a fast evolving environment, incorporating new ways of working and collaborating.
  • Contribute to strategic planning on plant and group level for Industrial Digitalisation.
  • Implement Industrial Digitalisation projects in Borealis and in joint venture plants.
  • Create digital twin sub-models based on flow-sheets simulations of specific manufacturing processes and deliver these to the project team for integration into the plant-wide digital twin.
  • Active implementation (coding of) statistical and AI/ML driven hybrid models to optimise the asset performance.
  • Create visualisation and context for digital twin data to end users.
  • Assess the use cases and value propositions of potential digital twin applications and provide guidance and direction to the digitalisation program.
  • Provide input to process engineering and control engineering departments, regarding design concepts and specification to leverage digitalisation manufacturing techniques.
About you
  • Master degree in Science, Technology, and/or Chemical Engineering, Automation.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
  • Technical experience in the following fields:
    • Process modelling and simulation tools.
    • Understanding of process control and dynamic modelling.
    • Coding experience with AI/ML predictive modelling techniques
    • Programming skills in Python and/or VB, C; C++
    • Experience with common ML libraries (i.e. tensorflow)
    • Good understanding of Borstar PE or PP process would be a plus
  • Minimum 5 years experience in petrochemical / polymer industry.
  • Business understanding.
  • Function effectively in international and multicultural teams, including 3rd parties/service providers.
  • Skilled in developing & maintaining good professional & personal relations and networks.
  • Willingness to travel on a global basis up to ~45 Days/Year is a requirement for this position.

Your salary package will reflect your profile, experience and the specifics of the country/location you apply for.

Should you join us in one of our Austrian locations and according to Austrian law, we offer compensation based on the collective labor agreement starting at EUR 94.400,- annual gross salary (based on 38 hrs/week) plus a yearly bonus, and are willing to pay more based on your experience and background.
