Position: Research Technician

  • Full Time (40 h/w)
  • Location: Klosterneuburg near Vienna, Austria
  • Salary: € 56,000* gross/year (excluding overtime) – Position limited for 3 years (extension t.b.d.)

Your Responsibilities

The Katsaros Group studies spin qubits in two-dimensional Ge heterostructures and hybrid semiconductor-superconductor systems. We are seeking a research technician to support the development of novel nanodevices and assist the PI in coordinating group activities.

  • Participate in research and development by fabricating spin qubits, Josephson junctions, and superconductor-semiconductor devices in a state-of-the-art nanofabrication facility.
  • Act as the interface between the group and internal service units, including the nanofabrication facility and the machine shop.
  • Attend weekly group meetings.
  • Support the PI in laboratory management by solving technical issues related to vacuum technology and cryogenics, and improve documentation processes.

Your Profile

  • PhD in materials science, physics, or nanofabrication.
  • Proven experience with nanofabrication techniques such as electron-beam lithography, evaporation, dry etching, atomic layer deposition, SEM, and AFM.
  • Basic knowledge of vacuum technology and cryogenics is advantageous.
  • Interest in low-temperature physics laboratory work.
  • Excellent command of English (working language).
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude, resilience, and ability to work both independently and in a team.
