Our product management team comprises technologists passionate about delivering products that shape market demands and promote open source software globally. This role involves leadership, communication, technical vision, and driving product strategy to meet future business needs.

Product managers set vision, strategy, and ensure timely delivery of products into markets.

We are hiring a Product Manager for Hardware Certification. Ubuntu is the world's favorite Linux distribution, used globally by developers. Canonical offers products and services addressing key challenges in development and deployment. This role offers the chance to:

  1. Lead the roadmap for Hardware Certification and develop OEM partnerships.
  2. Collaborate with engineering to shape the development roadmap for hardware certification schemes.
  3. Define future business models considering the competitive landscape.
  4. Engage with the Ubuntu community, partners, OEMs, and customers to enable success and drive go-to-market strategies.

The position involves product leadership and go-to-market strategy, translating vision into actionable plans and market launches. Ideal candidates have a software engineering background, aspire to become business leaders, and excel in strategy, planning, engagement, and communication. Responsibilities include overseeing the entire product lifecycle, blending technical expertise with strategic and analytical skills.

Location: This role is remote within the EMEA region, and you are expected to be based there.

The role entails:

  • Leading product development priorities and goals.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, marketing, sales).
  • Addressing project challenges, aligning priorities, enabling decisions, and maintaining business execution.
  • Conducting market research, analyzing industry trends, and gathering customer feedback.
  • Communicating product vision, updates, and decisions to ensure alignment.
  • Performing usability testing, analyzing feedback, and iterating on products.
  • Developing go-to-market strategies, creating documentation, and training support teams.
  • Supporting sales efforts through customer engagement and feedback.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Strong academic results at high school and university levels.
  • Understanding of Linux and open source community.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture, application development, data centers, cloud, or devices.
  • Passion for technology and tech landscape writing.
  • Strong work ethic and alignment with open source values.
  • Curiosity and continuous learning habit.
  • Ownership mentality.
  • Problem-solving and innovation skills.
  • Excellent English communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to four times a year for up to two weeks each.

Nice-to-have skills include familiarity with Silicon, IHV, ISV, ODM/OEMs, cloud providers, embedded devices, hardware/software testing frameworks, and experience building certification programs.
