Housing Choices Australia (HCA) has a proud legacy spanning over 40 years and has grown into one of Australia’s largest and leading community housing providers, delivering a range of affordable housing. They currently manage over 7,500 homes across five states, supporting over 13,000 residents, with assets worth $1.5 billion. The organisation has the capacity and coverage to deliver more homes across Australia.

HCA employs a highly successful collaborative approach to deliver high-quality, accessible, affordable housing. They work with capital investors, development partners, and government authorities to facilitate, plan, project manage, and deliver large-scale, sustainable apartment and housing projects.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a passionate and purpose-driven team and lead the growth of HCA’s ambitious housing development and investment program over the next decade.

With an existing pipeline of over 4,000 homes underway, this key leadership role involves working closely with the CEO, Board, and Group Executive leadership team.

As the Group Executive Director – Homes, you will lead a team of property, development, commercial finance, and legal professionals to realize HCA’s mission of increasing the availability of good quality affordable housing.

Location

  • HCA is headquartered in Melbourne with operations across five states.
  • Preference for candidates based in VIC, NSW, or QLD.
  • This is a national role with interstate travel involved.
  • Hybrid working arrangements are available.

The Role

As the Group Executive Director – Homes, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Determining and recommending the commercial property development strategy at a national and state level.
  2. Maintaining and expanding relationships with development and funding partners to create and deliver social, affordable housing, and build-to-rent schemes.
  3. Driving feasibility, commercial planning, and development strategy.
  4. Structuring and negotiating PPP and JV agreements.
  5. Assessing and initiating new business opportunities and developing commercial solutions to strengthen property strategy, development, and business planning.
  6. Overseeing project delivery from investment, acquisition, concept, and feasibility to completion, managing multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  7. Ensuring the delivery of the Asset Management strategy, including annual investment, disposal, renewal projects, and leading the national asset investment program.
  8. Inspiring, leading, and mentoring high-performing teams to achieve commercial outcomes while balancing community, sustainability, and impact objectives.
