Portfolio Manager / PMO Lead
Position Overview
We are seeking a forward-thinking, proactive, and people-savvy Portfolio Manager / PMO Lead to oversee a small but high-impact portfolio of strategic initiatives. You will be the driving force behind portfolio planning, governance, resource allocation, and delivery performance. As a seasoned leader and skilled communicator, you will liaise across project teams, senior stakeholders, and executive sponsors to ensure alignment, transparency, and momentum. Your focus is on removing roadblocks, upholding delivery standards, and keeping your word – always.

Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a Portfolio Manager, PMO Lead, or Senior Program Manager role.
Strong background in managing small-to-medium portfolios across diverse teams.
Demonstrated ability to apply governance, financial management, and delivery frameworks.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Confident facilitating portfolio reviews and executive updates.
Able to navigate ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities.
Experience with tools such as Power BI, JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, or similar.
Familiarity with both Agile and traditional project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain governance structures including portfolio boards and steering committees.
Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and decision-making authorities.
Ensure alignment with organisational strategies and goals.
Lead the prioritisation of projects based on business value, capacity, risk, and cost.
Work closely with senior leadership to make evidence-based investment and resource decisions.
Apply and champion fit-for-purpose delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid).
Promote standardisation, repeatability, and high delivery quality across teams.
Provide a central view of risks, dependencies, and critical issues across the portfolio.
Proactively identify and escalate risks while supporting teams with mitigation plans.
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and benefit realisation across all portfolio initiatives.
Support strategic investment decisions and ROI tracking.
Oversee workforce planning and resource allocation to meet delivery needs.
Identify and address skills gaps, bottlenecks, and resourcing conflicts.
Develop and maintain real-time dashboards, status updates, and KPI tracking.
Provide actionable insights to leadership and enable continuous improvement.
Manage structured change control processes.
Ensure changes in scope or priorities are evaluated, approved, and communicated effectively.
