Organizational Setting

The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) formulates and implements the IAEA's nuclear safety and security programme, which encompasses activities to protect people and the environment from radiation exposure and responds to Member States' needs related to nuclear safety and security.

The Incident and Emergency Centre (IEC), part of NS, reports to the Deputy Director General and serves as the IAEA's focal point for preparedness and response to nuclear and radiological incidents and emergencies.

Main Purpose

The Consultant will provide expert input in organizing and delivering the Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 1 to 4 December 2025. Responsibilities include conference planning, coordination, and implementation, such as organizing preparatory meetings, developing the scientific program, reviewing abstracts, and promoting the conference.

Functions / Key Results Expected

  • Technical and logistical support for conference preparations, including developing agendas, documenting outcomes, and liaising with stakeholders.
  • Program development and content management, including managing abstract submissions and tracking data.
  • Conference promotion and stakeholder engagement, including developing promotional materials and writing the conference summary report.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

  • Project management skills.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in Engineering, Science, Business Administration, Political Science, International Relations, Law, or Public Administration.
  • Minimum of five years of project management experience, preferably including international conference organization.
  • Experience drafting formal documents and promotional content.
  • Familiarity with scientific or policy-driven abstract and paper submission processes.
  • Proven ability to build multi-stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent English skills; knowledge of other IAEA official languages is an asset.

Remuneration

Daily fee up to €250, with additional allowances for travel and subsistence if required. Health coverage and pension are the incumbent's responsibility.
