The Role:

The Aged Care Program provides aged care support services to approved clients who choose Circular Head Aboriginal Corporation as their aged care support service provider. The project aims to provide high quality aged care support services that meets and exceeds the aged care quality standards to help clients to live the best life they can as members of our community.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  1. Leading and managing CHAC’s Aged Care Support service to ensure quality and professional services are provided that meet the needs of CHAC’s Board, Executive, clients, funding bodies and other service providers, in accordance with contractual requirements.
  2. Managing the day-to-day operations of the Aged Care Programs to ensure quality care is provided that meet the needs of clients.
  3. Managing the financial costings, budget plans and negotiation of external contracts for CHAC’s Aged Care Support service and monitor budget versus actual for these services/programs.
  4. Ensuring CHAC’s aged care support workforce is appropriately qualified, supported and supervised to meet Aged Care Quality Standards, the needs of the clients and any industrial or employee relations issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  5. Developing an annual training plan for the aged care support workforce and overseeing its implementation including scheduling orientation, delivering training when appropriate, monitoring aged care workers training plans and facilitating learning opportunities for the aged care workforce.
  6. Managing complaints according to organisational policy and procedure and conducting an annual client feedback survey.
  7. Finalising DEX reports, reconciling and submitting Medicare claims on time.
  8. Monitoring and coordinating quality assurance, risk and compliance within Aged Care Standards and state and federal legislation.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Understanding of Aboriginal society and culture and issues affecting Aboriginal people.
  2. A qualification in aged care or health sector and significant experience working in the area.
  3. Demonstrated experience leading small teams.
  4. High level verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Proficiency in the application of computer package.
  6. Practical experience in Work Health and Safety and Risk Management.
  7. Time management skills and the ability to develop, maintain and monitor own work program to meet deadlines.
  8. An ability to work cooperatively with professionals in other related agencies.
  9. Police and Working with Children clearances will be required.
