To strengthen our research into how pediatric cancers evolve, the Cresswell group is recruiting a Technical Assistant (f/m/d) to contribute to projects in the team. In this responsible role, you will have the unique opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary competence center for pediatric cancer research and to have a direct influence on understanding how cancers develop resistance to therapy. You will be a core member of the team and contribute to research efforts using state-of-the-art single-cell sequencing, drug sensitivity profiling and lineage tracing technologies.

Research projects in the Cresswell group are supported by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). Information about the Cresswell group can be found here:

  • You will become a core member of our team, supporting and enabling our ongoing research projects
  • You will be responsible for purchasing and storing research materials, and maintaining an inventory to ensure reproducible science
  • You will perform cell culture, barcoding, drug sensitivity assays and genomics focused on single-cell sequencing
  • You will establish wet-lab operations in the team, supported by collaborating experimentalists in e.g., the Taschner-Mandl and Halbritter groups
  • You will be responsible for troubleshooting experiments and interpreting results together with computational biologists
  • You will ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and good laboratory practice


Your profile

What you bring for this position:

  • Degree in life science (B.Sc., M.Sc., Mag., DI)
  • Excellent technical skills in molecular and cellular biology
  • Experience with cell culture is essential
  • Experience with e.g., virus-based molecular techniques, dose-response assays, next generation sequencing protocols, is strongly desired
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is essential (German not required)
  • Exceptional organization skills, ability to problem solve, work independently and communicate clearly are essential
  • A proactive “getting things done” mentality
