The IOT Application Engineer is established in the team of Embedded Systems at R&D. The focus of work is situated at the middle of an IOT infrastructure. As the central part of the BLE communication on an access point the IOT application engineer supports the team by the integration, optimization, verification and maintenance of the IOT gateway functionality to the BLE world. He enriches the team with his extensive technical knowledge of the BLE standard, firmware implementation and analytical verification of systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive/Support integration of BLE Controller firmware integration with third party vendors
• Integrate BLE Controller firmware for infrastructure devices like access points
• Maintain and update BLE Controller firmware
• Verify BLE controller communication between Host and Controller
• Verify BLE controller communication between Controller and End devices
• Work active on coexistence solutions with other HF protocols
• Analyzation/Verification of communication between cloud and end device from an BLE access point’s perspective
• Research into causes between BLE Host and Controller, especially BLE traffic (HCI and air traffic)
• Implementation/Support of testing and verification systems
• Drive automated testing for BLE controller verification

Key Challenges:

• Deep knowledge in Bluetooth Low Energy
• Knowledge of the Bluetooth Core Specification
• Flawless handling of BLE Sniffer Basics
• Analytical and combined way of thinking
• Be able to steer the R&D team towards a smart and adapted solution
• Drive integration of firmware with different BLE vendors under respect of own needs
• Comprehensible identification of errors and challenges for external parties
• Suggestion of possible solutions and optimizations
• Responsibility for the maturity level of the solution within the specified timeframe
• Ensure the satisfaction of stakeholders

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications or equivalent training

Experience:

• At least 3 years as Senior IOT Application Engineer on RF level in R&D or similar exceptional work experience in development roles.
• Solid experience in HF related technologies including development and verification, especially Bluetooth Low Energy
• In-depth knowledge of RF technologies from the gateway's perspective Analytic mindset
• Solid experience in usage of air/radio sniffers like Ellisys
• Languages: English fluent

Skills/Abilities:

• Skills on BLE Vendor Frameworks like Zephyr
• Skills on Bluetooth Core Specification
• Great technical understanding
• Good analytical thinking skills
• Interest in computer science
• Ability to abstract for the modelling of solution concepts
• Willingness for further training on new technologies and legal aspects
• High quality awareness and good communications skills

For the advertised position, a KV minimum basic salary of 3,843.00 euros gross per month applies, with readiness for KV overpayment depending on actual qualifications (for full-time employment).
