We are looking for a person who specialises in track asset management and deals with issues relating to the maintenance and renewal of tracks and switches. Possible aspects include vehicle-track interaction, the interaction of various track components and their wear, or models that trace the wear phenomena that occur to their roots and thus interpret maintenance not in terms of treating symptoms, but of combating causes (‘root-caused maintenance’). Extensive track measurement data is available at the Institute for empirical verification. The work will be carried out in close cooperation with the two partner institutes in the RCRS at Graz University of Technology, the Institute of Railway Infrastructure Design and the Institute of Structural Durability and Railway Technology, as well as industry and railway infrastructure operators.
