We are seeking the expertise of a motivated and energetic Maintenance Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will possess knowledge of relevant building and construction codes and compliance. This role requires excellent communication, support for team members to deliver on high quality work, quality assurance and providing timely feedback to team members to support their continued development. This role is offered on a full-time basis, working from 6:15am to 2:45pm.
The Maintenance Coordinator will be expected to:
Perform general carpentry and maintenance tasks, including repairs and construction of school infrastructure such as classrooms, outdoor areas, and storage facilities;
Plan and deliver minor building and renovation projects in line with the Building Code of Australia and safety standards;
Conduct regular inspections and schedule preventative and reactive maintenance through the school’s system;
Manage medium-scale facility improvement projects from scoping to completion, including classroom and playground upgrades;
Oversee project timelines, budgets, task allocation, and safety documentation to minimise disruption to school operations;
Supervise the Maintenance Assistant and manage external contractors, ensuring adherence to school protocols and WHS compliance;
Promote and enforce Workplace Health and Safety policies, lead Toolbox talks, and support risk management initiatives;
Maintain and monitor tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring safe storage, testing, and inventory control;
Communicate effectively with staff, contractors, and suppliers, contributing to planning for future infrastructure upgrades; and
Support school facilities during events and assist the Facilities Manager and Business Manager with operational tasks as needed.
The successful applicant may possess:
Trade-qualified Carpenter (Certificate III or equivalent) with 10+ years’ experience in building maintenance, construction, or facilities management;
Proven ability to plan, deliver, and supervise medium-scale refurbishment projects, ideally in schools or similar environments;
Strong knowledge of the Building Code of Australia, WHS legislation, and experience with maintenance systems and asset management tools; and
Skilled in leading teams, managing contractors, and interpreting technical plans and specifications.
