Your mission

You’ll work on the Payments Infrastructure team building products, services, and scaling solutions around PSP implementation and localisation as we expand throughout Europe and beyond. You will own, end-to-end, business-critical projects, tackle architectural and conceptual challenges, integrate with third-party vendors where necessary, and collaborate with other engineers and teams within Bitpanda.

What you’ll do

• Design and develop scalable, resilient, message-driven services using Java 21.
• Write clean, future-proof code with at least 80% unit test coverage, and perform end-to-end and integration testing before deployment in an event-driven microservices architecture.
• Optimize payment modules/services for reliability, maintainability, performance, and scalability using tools like Datadog and Grafana.
• Drive innovation by researching and adopting the latest backend development trends and technologies to keep our applications cutting-edge.
• Mentor junior developers, providing guidance and support for their growth and success.

Who you are

• Experienced in modern Java frameworks such as Spring Boot and Micronaut, with Java 21+ as your main language.
• Proficient with relational and non-relational databases, preferably Postgres and MongoDB.
• Skilled in creating and maintaining REST APIs with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Practical experience with message-oriented middleware like Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ, working within AWS-hosted event-driven microservices.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines, AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
