Country Controller Austria & Switzerland

Gustramsdorf (Austria) or Basel (Switzerland)

Axalta, a leader in the coatings industry, is seeking a Country Controller Austria & Switzerland to join our team at our facilities in either Gustramsdorf or Basel.

The role involves overseeing all finance activities for the legal entities within scope, ensuring the accuracy of financial statements, and acting as the finance interface with global and regional controllers, FP&A, and external authorities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the local finance organization, including indirect reporting of LE Controllers and local accountants.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory and corporate reporting standards, including UGB & USGAAP.
  • Implementing and improving accounting and reporting processes and partnering with local business teams.
  • Representing legal entities to external authorities and maintaining relationships with banks, auditors, and state institutions.
  • Managing internal and external audits, internal controls, and governance.
  • Preparing and reviewing accounting entries and reconciliations.
  • Providing guidance on financial accounting areas such as AR, AP, Fixed Assets, Inventory, VAT.
  • Handling tax provisions, statistical returns, and reports.
  • Participating in shareholder and board meetings related to financial statements.
  • Leading and participating in projects, including M&A initiatives.

Qualifications include:

  • CPA or Master degree in Finance or Business Administration, or Bilanzbuchhalter qualification.
  • At least 6 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • People management experience.
  • Broad knowledge of US GAAP, local GAAP, and other accounting standards.
  • Understanding of country legal, tax, and regulatory compliance processes.
  • Strong leadership and change management skills.
  • Analytical mindset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
  • Fluent in German and English; French is a plus.
