Tasks And Responsibilities
Independent research
Independent teaching of courses in German and English (German language skills are not a formal prerequisite, but proficiency at level B2 is expected within two years)
Participation in the research and teaching projects run by the Department of Mathematics
Supervision of students
Participation in organisational and administrative tasks and in quality assurance measures
Contribution to expanding the international scientific of the Department of Mathematics
Participation in public relations activities
The successful candidate is expected to pursue a doctoral degree within the thematic doctoral programme «Modeling - Analysis - Optimization of discrete, continuous, and stochastic systems» at the University of Klagenfurt. This position serves the purposes of the vocational and scientific education of graduates of Master's or Diploma degree programmes with the goal of completing a doctoral degree in Technical Sciences. Applications by individuals who have already completed a subject-specific doctoral degree therefore cannot be considered.
Prerequisites For The Appointment
Doctoral degree in mathematics completed at a domestic or foreign higher education institution. This requirement must be fulfilled two weeks before the starting date at the latest; hence, the last possible deadline for meeting this requirement is September 14, 2025.
A strong background and publication record in the area of stochastic optimization, optimal control, and/or uncertainty quantification
Presentations at scientific conferences
Fluency in English
Additional Desired Qualifications
Proven potential for scientific research
Communication and presentation skills
Experience in the (co-)acquisition and running of third-party funded projects and readiness to play an active role in third-party funded projects and their acquisition
Didactic competence and proven successful teaching experience
Scientific curiosity and enthusiasm for imparting knowledge
German language skills
Ability to work in a diverse team
Our Offer
The employment contract is for the position as Assistant Professor (postdoc) and stipulates a start-ing salary of EUR 4,932.90 gross per month (14 times a year; previous experience deemed relevant to the job can be recognized).
