About the Opportunity

Supporting the Program Director SUBSAFE, the SUBSAFE Program Improvement Manager is responsible for enhancing the performance of the ASC SUBSAFE Program and increasing capability to support current and future programs.

This role focuses on operational efficiency and compliance, delivering continuous improvement projects, developing and delivering personnel training programs for ASC and the SUBSAFE Supply Chain. The goal is to ensure all stakeholders are qualified and experienced, and that our systems, tools, and processes are suitable and operational for all SUBSAFE-related work.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in either Henderson, WA, or Osborne, SA.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop the SUBSAFE Improvement Program across technical systems, standards management, compliance, processes, and change management.
  2. Identify potential risks to the SUBSAFE Program compliance and develop mitigation strategies, including proactive programs and initiatives.
  3. Manage and report on SUBSAFE Program performance, ensuring compliance, addressing findings, optimizing resources, and embedding continuous improvement.
  4. Lead projects to improve submarine operations, including process optimization, cost reduction, and performance enhancement, with a focus on compliance.
  5. Provide training and support to staff on new processes and technologies related to the SUBSAFE program.
  6. Identify and incorporate new technologies and innovative solutions to enhance the SUBSAFE program's application and compliance.

About you

  • Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, safety, or business.
  • Significant experience in compliance or governance management.
  • Proven ability to manage quality, certification, safety, or environmental management systems.
  • Knowledge of systems or equipment onboard ships and/or submarines.
  • Understanding of SUBSAFE and Defence Seaworthiness requirements (or equivalents).
  • Experience delivering continuous improvement initiatives, implementing management systems, and training programs in complex environments like submarines or shipbuilding.

Leadership and management experience with a team are essential.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance, and access to protected US defence technology. Eligibility depends on obtaining and maintaining these clearances.
