About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Expert in Science & Technology to join our Process Analytical Sciences (PAS) Laboratory within Technical Research Development (TRD). This position is ideal for candidates with a profound interest in analytical sciences, digital innovation, and continuous improvement. You will play a crucial role in developing and implementing analytical methods while supporting pharmaceutical process development in a dynamic and collaborative laboratory environment.

As an Associate Expert, your key responsibilities will include planning, performing, and documenting sample analysis, troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring data accuracy, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals. The ideal candidate should have a background in analytical chemistry or related fields, good problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards. Prior experience in a laboratory setting and familiarity with regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry are highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, perform, and document analytical testing of process development samples in compliance with internal quality standards and HSE requirements.
  • Support the implementation and transfer of analytical methods for innovative products under moderate supervision.
  • Act as instrument owner: maintain equipment, ensure DQP qualification status, and perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Operate and support automated liquid handling systems and analytical instruments (e.g., (U)HPLC, CE); perform basic scripting and data processing under guidance.
  • Collaborate with Method Experts (ME), Analytical Experts (AE), and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of analytical workflows.
  • Provide feedback on lab processes and contribute to harmonization and continuous improvement initiatives across PAS labs.
  • Actively use and adapt digital tools and automated solutions to enhance lab efficiency.
  • Train and coach technicians, apprentices, and new team members.
  • Support inventory management and ensure compliance with documentation and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Completed chemical/technical apprenticeship, HTL, or bachelor's degree in life sciences (e.g., chemistry, biochemistry).
  • Solid understanding of analytical method principles, especially in separation techniques such as (U)HPLC and CE.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation; knowledge of non-separation techniques (e.g., UV, SoloVPE, ELISA, Bioassays) is a plus.
  • Strong affinity to analytical software solutions (e.g., Chromeleon, Magellan, LIMS system) and digital solutions are advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a collaborative, feedback-oriented mindset.
  • German and English - advanced level required for effective collaboration and documentation.
