As a Head Maintenance Austria, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end maintenance process for all sites in Austria. You will act as an ambassador to the external market as well as internal colleagues and partners by responsibly dealing with the creation and implementation of the Maintenance Strategy, showcasing Novartis Values and Behaviors at the core.

About the Role

Major accountabilities:

  • Defining and executing the asset and maintenance strategy for Austria.
  • Budgeting and resource planning for maintenance and calibrations, ensuring cost efficiency for new and existing engineering assets in full compliance with law, cGMP, and HSE regulations.
  • Overseeing management and execution of investment projects according to asset lifecycle management, project schedules, time, cost, functionality, and quality.
  • Applying initiatives and strategies from global improvement programs and engineering standards, supporting their rollout and implementation locally.
  • Managing third-party service providers and related contracts.
  • Acting as team leader and manager, overseeing a team of competent and high-performing colleagues, both directly and indirectly.
  • Holding a degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Having several years of experience in the Pharmaceutical, Chemical, or FMCG industry, with detailed functional knowledge of manufacturing equipment.
  • Being highly skilled in problem-solving, especially related to equipment breakdowns (electrical, mechanical).
  • Possessing the capacity for technical analysis of recurrent breakdowns.
  • Having a deep understanding of Pharma GMPs, Maintenance KPIs, and onsite equipment.
  • Having deep knowledge of maintenance activities, procedures, and KPIs.
  • Proven people-management and leadership skills.
  • Fluent in English and German.

The minimum salary for this role, as per Austrian law, is €77,543.90/year (full-time), with actual compensation likely higher based on experience and qualifications.
