Your Responsibilities

  • Autonomous research and publication activities in the field of genomics, gene regulation, cell-cell communication with a focus on molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases and/or aging
  • Integrative bioinformatic analysis of complex multimodal datasets using R and Python (e.g. RNA, epigenetic modifications, single cell resolution, spatial resolution)
  • Develop, optimize and standardize analysis code (e.g. for gene regulatory mechansisms, cell-cell communication)
  • Set-up online portals to disseminate data sets (e.g. from single cell analysis)
  • Contribution to research data management
  • Participate in existing research projects and development of new research projects
  • Conceptualise and implement autonomous research projects and contribute to acquisition of necessary third-party funding
  • Present and discuss findings at regular internal and external meetings and conferences
  • Autonomous teaching of courses and conducting of examinations in Pharmacology and Toxicology
  • Supervise students and train new personnel
  • Participate in organizational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures

Your Profile

  • Completed doctorate/PhD in the area Bioinformatics or Life Sciences
  • Strong interest in genomics, gene regulation, epigenomics and cardiovascular biology
  • Excellent skills in R and/or Python
  • Experience in the analysis of NGS-based datasets (e.g. RNA-seq)
  • Experience in the analysis of epigenomic datasets (preferred)
  • Experience in the analysis of genomics data at the single cell level and/or with spatial resolution (preferred)
  • Successful international publication record.
  • Experience of applying for third party research (preferred)
  • Highly committed and motivated approach to academic work
  • Independent, goal-oriented approach to work
  • Excellent social skills and ability to work in a international and interdisciplinary team
  • Enjoys mentoring students
  • Excellent sense of personal responsibility and organisational capabilities
  • Excellent written and spoken english language skills

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 69,060.60 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.

Organisational Unit

The Preissl laboratory at the departmant of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Pharmaceutical Institute aims to uncover molecular processes of development and aging as well as to identify novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and other pathologies. A particular focus is on the investigation of epigenetic mechanisms, gene regulation and cell-cell communication.
