We are looking for a technically proficient Technical Writer with hands-on experience in software evaluation and testing, ideally in cybersecurity or a closely related field. This role is pivotal in translating complex testing outcomes into clear, structured, and technically accurate documentation. You will work closely with test engineers to document methodologies, testing procedures, and evaluation results across a diverse range of platforms including Windows, macOS, Android, and enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including test methodologies, product reviews, certification reports, and comparative analyses.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity analysts and test engineers to ensure factual accuracy and technical completeness of all published materials.
- Structure test reports to clearly communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Translate raw data and technical outcomes into reader-friendly summaries without losing precision.
- Maintain consistency with AV-Comparatives’ brand tone: authoritative, accessible, and scientifically rigorous.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a technical writer or editor in a software or cybersecurity context.
- Solid understanding of software testing methodologies; experience with antivirus or endpoint security testing is a strong advantage.
- Ability to interpret technical data and translate it into structured, reader-friendly documentation.
- Familiarity with operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Android; Linux knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent written English (native-level proficiency preferred); German is a plus but not required.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience with cybersecurity testing environments, including EDR/XDR, anti-phishing, mobile, and performance testing.
- Comfort working with structured data and understanding test automation logs and outputs.

We would like to request your expertise in producing a comparative technical review of three privacy-focused cybersecurity solutions: Product 1, Product 2, and Product 3.
These products have already undergone internal evaluation, and we will provide you with the full test results and access to relevant datasets.
Scope of Assignment:
Objective:
- Deliver a clear, structured comparison of the three products from both a technical and user-centric perspective.
- Focus on their approach to personal data removal, user control, reporting, and the effectiveness of their privacy protection strategies.
Key Areas to Cover:
- Product Overview: Vendor background, service scope, target audience.
- Features & Capabilities: Highlight core functionalities, such as data broker list coverage, scan frequency, reporting granularity, and customisation options.
- User/Admin Interface: Evaluate the user experience and administrative control (if applicable). Screenshots may be included to illustrate key functions.
- Strengths and Limitations: Include notable advantages, missing features, or usability issues.

Task Example 2 - Enterprise:
We would like you to do a technical review covering three XDR (Extended Detection and Response) solutions currently installed in our controlled test environment. Your task is to assess and document each product with a focus on clarity, technical depth, and alignment with AV-Comparatives’ editorial standards. The testresults of the detection testing are given to you in an Excel.
Scope of Work:
Access & Setup:
- You will be granted full access to a dedicated test workstation for each product, including administrator credentials.
- Our engineers will ensure the environment is preconfigured and operational.
Review Objectives:
- Provide a clear overview of each XDR product, including vendor, version, deployment method, and intended use case.
- Describe the user interface, particularly the administrator dashboard, configuration workflows, and visibility features (e.g., telemetry, alerting, correlation).
- Highlight core features and capabilities, such as:
- Threat detection and investigation tools
- Integration options (e.g. with SIEM or EPP platforms)
- Automated response mechanisms
- Endpoint telemetry and forensic insights
- Comment on usability, intuitiveness, and any notable strengths or limitations observed during usage.
Deliverables:
- A standalone technical report for each product (approx. 2–3 pages per review), structured for both professional readers and potential publication.
- A Comparative report notes with observations across the three solutions including the test results.
