AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to new product innovations that set AWS’s services apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers requiring specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

The AWS RDS PostgreSQL Contributors team seeks a remote Senior PostgreSQL Engineer with expertise in PostgreSQL database engine internals and community engagement. You will join a world-class team collaborating openly with the PostgreSQL project.

Your contributions will include:

• Features
• Fixes
• Drivers
• Extensions
• Patch review
• Testing
• Security
• Performance
• Benchmarking
• Development/commitfest discussions

Key responsibilities include authoring, reviewing, and committing PostgreSQL core database engine code to the open source repository, and engaging in design, architecture, and bug discussions on the PostgreSQL mailing lists.

Minimum qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience in at least one language
• 5+ years of experience in system design or architecture
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader
• Recognition as a PostgreSQL community committer with write access to the primary engine source code repository

Additional requirements include full software development lifecycle experience and a bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
