Offer Description

The University of Vienna, with over 10,000 members including approximately 7,500 academic staff, seeks a university assistant predoctoral in the Faculty of Life Sciences. The position involves research in metabolic liver diseases, immune function, and aging within an interdisciplinary team led by Prof. Dr. Ina Bergheim. Responsibilities include conceptualizing, coordinating, and supervising studies on aging-related changes in gut, liver, and immune cells across models including humans, as well as participating in publication and teaching activities. The role aims to support a doctoral thesis, with employment initially limited to 1.5 years, extendable to 3 years.

Candidate Profile

  • Master's degree or Diploma in Nutritional Sciences or related fields (biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, medicine), with a focus on aging and metabolic mechanisms
  • Strong interest in science, good knowledge of human physiology and biochemistry
  • Experience with model organisms, primary cells, and molecular techniques (immunohistochemistry, Western Blot, PCR, ELISA)
  • Proficiency in German and English
  • High interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and motivated
