Your mission

You’ll work on the Payments Infrastructure team building products, services, and scaling solutions around PSP implementation and localisation as we expand across Europe and beyond. You will own end-to-end business-critical projects, tackle architectural and conceptual challenges, integrate with 3rd party vendors where necessary, and collaborate with many other engineers and teams within Bitpanda.

What you’ll do

• Design and develop scalable, resilient, message-driven services using Java 21.
• Write clean and future-proof code with 80% unit test coverage, plus end-to-end and integration testing before deploying into an event-driven microservices architecture.
• Optimize payment modules/services for reliability, maintainability, performance and scalability using tools like Datadog and Grafana.
• Drive innovation by researching and adopting the latest trends and technologies in backend development to keep applications cutting-edge.
• Mentor junior developers, providing guidance and support to help them grow and excel.

Who you are

• Advanced knowledge and experience with modern Java frameworks such as Spring Boot and Micronaut, with Java 21+ as your main language.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, preferably Postgres and MongoDB.
• Experience creating and maintaining public REST APIs with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Practical knowledge of message-oriented middleware (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ) for event-driven microservices hosted on AWS.
• Strong CI/CD experience and familiarity with AWS, Terraform and Kubernetes.
