About The Role

The Head of Finance and Operations role is vital in enabling LFTW to achieve its mission by leading and continuously enhancing effective and streamlined financial and operational services. This role ensures cost-effective protection of LFTW assets and approval of and governance over LFTW activities at the appropriate level in the organization, in compliance with LFTW's policies, donor requirements and applicable local government regulations. The Head of Finance and Operations plays a critical role in producing high-quality financial information, deriving critical insights, driving decision-making and communicating and collaborating effectively with the senior management team, thereby enhancing the organization's overall efficiency and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial leadership by managing budgeting, reporting, and internal control systems to ensure accuracy, transparency, and alignment with organizational goals
  • Ensure compliance and accountability with donor requirements, statutory obligations, and audit standards, safeguarding the organization’s assets and reputation
  • Oversee financial systems and payroll, ensuring timely reporting, cost recovery, and strong fiscal management practices that support sustainable growth
  • Lead procurement and logistics functions, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and adherence to LFTW’s procurement policies and procedures
  • Manage office administration and IT coordination, ensuring smooth operational workflows and effective use of resources
  • Oversee human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and staff development, fostering a positive and compliant work environment
  • Ensure adherence to Mozambican labor laws and internal HR frameworks, maintaining fairness and compliance across all staff-related matters
  • Inspire and develop the Finance & Operations team, promoting collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability

Qualifications and requirements

  • You hold a relevant degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, with a solid understanding of financial and operational management principles
  • You bring at least 7 years of proven experience in finance and operations management, ideally within complex or multi-donor environments
  • You have a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, demonstrating the ability to motivate teams, foster collaboration, and solve problems proactively
  • You possess strong technical knowledge of financial systems, compliance requirements, audits, and reporting standards
  • You lead with a collaborative, solution-oriented, and integrity-driven approach, balancing strategic oversight with practical execution
  • You are a Mozambican national, fluent in Portuguese and English, and able to communicate confidently with both local and international stakeholders
  • Experience in the NGO or international development sector is a strong advantage
