Property and Facilities Business Case Manager

$113k - $127k p.a. + 17% super and leave loading

  • Base salary will be in the range $113,377.67 - $127,112.24 + 17% Superannuation (Hew Level 8)
  • Access to flexible working arrangements including hybrid working options (up to 2 days per week work from home)

About This Opportunity
As the Business Case Manager (known locally as Business Interface Lead), you will play a critical role in shaping and delivering strategic projects across the University. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to develop strategic initiatives, manage the origination of complex projects, and ensure alignment with the program objectives and the University's goals.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop robust business cases, ensuring they align with UQ's strategic objectives and adhere to financial and governance requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and oversee initial project budget preparation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify challenges, support the development of data-driven solutions, and offer guidance on program delivery.
  • Coordinate the review and approval of business case preparation elements via executive governance forums, including incorporating feedback and providing administrative support to executive-level committees.
  • Assist with overseeing project scope changes, ensuring they align with approved business cases, the UQ Gated Capex process, and long-term institutional goals.
  • Manage risks and benefits, coordinate and undertake associated reporting, and facilitate the timely handover to project delivery.

About You

  • Qualifications in business, project management or a related discipline, and extensive relevant experience in project, program, and portfolio management roles, ideally within the tertiary education or commercial property sector; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training.
  • A proven track record in successfully planning and developing business cases and stakeholder management strategies for capital works.
  • Strong expertise in managing large-scale, complex capital projects and programs, contributing to the successful execution of infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working within project and program teams to ensure the achievement of key objectives, with a clear understanding of project controls, commercial controls, and design management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated success in preparing briefings, reports, and presentations for senior executives.
  • High-level interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish collaborative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and an ability to be adaptive and innovative in developing and pursuing solutions.
  • Highly effective organisational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and maintain meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
