At the Faculty of Psychology, the University of Vienna seeks to appoint a Full Professor of Psychotherapy and Psychotherapy Research
The position:
The task of the professorship is the (basic and application-oriented) research of psychotherapy and in particular its efficacy and mode of action, as well as the further development of psychotherapeutic methods (with a behavioral, systemic or humanistic approach).
The research profile should be empirically oriented and be compatible with the Faculty's thematic areas in terms of content and methodology. The professorship should strengthen the fields of activity of the faculty's research, teaching and practice outpatient unit through research in the field of psychotherapy and contribute to a comprehensive range of services.
Substantial participation and collaboration in the organization of psychotherapy training at the University of Vienna are part of the professorship's remit.
The professorship therefore combines activities in psychotherapeutic research, teaching/training and practice.
Your academic profile:
• Doctoral degree/PhD in psychology or another relevant source discipline (e.g., medicine, education)
• A subject-relevant habilitation (venia docendi) or an internationally recognized equivalent qualification (e.g. positively evaluated junior professorship) is desired
• Outstanding research achievements, excellent publication and funding record, international reputation
• Proven leadership qualities
• Gender and diversity competence
• Experience in designing and managing large research projects
• Enthusiasm for excellent teaching and supervision at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral level
• Willingness to take on organisational and administrative responsibilities within the Faculty and/or the University
• Completed psychotherapeutic training in an evidence-based therapeutic approach (if obtained outside of Austria: with the possibility of formal recognition in Austria) as well as teaching experience in the field of psychotherapy.
The University of Vienna expects the successful candidate to acquire, within one year, proficiency in German sufficient for teaching in bachelor’s programmes and for participation in university committees.
