Drive business growth and operational leadership in a key regional market with full P&L ownership and strategic input across a multi-sector portfolio.
Our client is a well-established and rapidly growing ASX-listed tier 2 nationally operating contractor across Engineering, Construction and Remediation projects. They have a strong pipeline of projects providing whole-of-life solutions for assets across a range of sectors including Defence, Marine, Mining, Industrial, Energy and Commercial to name a few. They are now seeking a
State Manager – QLD to lead their Brisbane-based team and deliver on their state strategy.
This is a senior leadership opportunity reporting directly to and collaborating with the COO and working with Sector leads to further develop existing business plans and strategy in-line with the overarching business plan.
The State Manager will lead and inspire existing local teams with corporate services support provided from head office. Lead the local precontracts team to capitalise on existing pipelines and develop future opportunities. The State Manager will also oversee their own profit and loss centres including overheads, capital expenditure and project Work in Progress.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the construction contracting industry, a deep understanding of the Queensland market, and a proven ability to grow and lead business units sustainably.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:• Oversee and develop new and existing client relationships
• Set and drive strategy to convert opportunities into secured projects
• Lead bid management, bid-no-bid decisions, and high-quality tender submissions
• Full commercial oversight of the QLD portfolio
• Manage expenditure, capital investment and project performance
• Identify resourcing requirements and build high-performing teams
• Ensure compliance with all company systems and monthly reporting processes
• Work closely with sector leads to ensure growth and profitability in line with business goals
• Support PNG operations through logistics, recruitment, and offshore coordination
Qualifications and Requirements:- Tertiary qualification in Business, Construction Management, Engineering or similar
- 10+ years' experience in the Australian construction contracting sector
- Proven leadership and business growth track record
- Strong understanding of commercial and contract management principles
- Excellent knowledge of the QLD construction market, including talent and subcontractors
- Knowledge of Tier 1/2 business systems
- Ability to inspire and lead teams toward strategic objectives
- Police clearance required
