Job Title: Sr Web Developer/ Application Developer

Clearance Required: US Citizen; Public Trust

Work Location: Remote; Silver Spring, MD

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified and experienced Web Developer with Public Trust Clearance. The developer will be the primary front-end designer and developer, building websites and applications, interpreting scientific information, enhancing user experience through Human Centered Design (HCD), and collaborating with stakeholders and IT teams. Work will focus on improving customer experience, usability, and technical site performance via cloud migration, UX/UI best practices, and scientific communication standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design, build, and maintain websites and web applications using WordPress.
2. Write efficient, well-documented code and automate processes.
3. Create websites following HTML/CSS best practices.
4. Support and troubleshoot web application issues.
5. Collaborate with designers and stakeholders to gather requirements and meet project milestones.
6. Coordinate with IT security to ensure web certifications and implement security updates.
7. Communicate regularly with stakeholders to develop and deploy content within agreed timelines.
8. Consult on content scope, new features, performance metrics, and branding compliance.
9. Maintain software documentation and research new tools.
10. Enhance user experience through Human Centered Design and analytics.
11. Create graphics and visual content as needed.
12. Identify and resolve bottlenecks and bugs.
13. Provide performance reports and improvement recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or related field.
• 5+ years in WordPress web development; 10+ years in website content design.
• Master's degree in physical, biological, ecological, chemical, or Earth sciences.
• Knowledge of OAR lab and NOAA scientific activities and strategic goals.
• Experience supporting stakeholder requirements and project coordination.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Operational experience with WordPress, HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript.
• Experience with cloud technologies, CMS plugins, and website migration.
• Familiarity with automated testing and performance tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with data visualization tools and graphic design software.
• Experience with version control (e.g., Git).
• Familiarity with IDEs, SQL queries, and databases.

Salary Range:

$90,109.75 - $151,000, subject to experience and qualifications.
